Big Sur — Jack Kerouac

After reading The Dharma Bums, I wanted to finish off Jack Kerouac’s most famous works. I had long loved many of the famous extracts of this book because of the million times that I’ve listened to Ben Gibbard and Jay Farrar’s album, which was inspired by the book, One Fast Move or I’m Gone. I must admit that I drove from Cardiff to Cardigan one Friday night crying while I thought of the tragedy that this book completes. Big Sur is the book that made me realise how tragic Kerouac was, how tragic we all are in our ways.
