The Buddha’s Return — Gaito Gazdanov

I bought this book because it is published by Pushkin Press who put out quality European translations. I absolutely love the imprint and value their judgement on what makes a good book. Gazdanov’s book is very difficult to read because like most Russian stuff, the number of characters in the story is intense. That said, after reading this I was happily surprised to find that I had a pretty good idea of the story arc — which is at best abstract.
